back reads:
The word 'Yuletide' means the festival at the Winter Solstice. It occurs on the 21st or the 22nd of December and is the longest night of the year. Ancient cultures didn't understand how the earth’s orbit around the sun caused the winter months to grow darker and colder and feared the sun would disappear altogether. They celebrated the Winter Solstice to encourage the return of the Sun and its life-giving light and it became a major turing point in their calendar. To this day for all people, religious and none religious, it is still a perfect time to take stock and for inner renewal. Click on card to go back to menu.
