Welcome to the website of designer and fine artist Ken Hurd. Greeting Cards. All these cards measure 145 x 145 mm and are left blank on the inside for the sender to write their own message. Flowers. This is a range of cards that can be sent any time of the year, to anyone and for any reason. They are blank on the inside for the sender to put their own message. Yuletide. This range of cards marks the winter solstice that occurs on the 21st or the 22nd of December. This ancient festive celebrates the end of the long winter nights and looks forward to the new year. These cards can be sent at Christmas and can be used by people of all faiths or for the non-religious. The 'Birthday' range of cards. Semi-abstract landscapes overlaid with with thoughtful famous quotes relating to the ageing process. Gay Art. Do these artists have anything in common besides their sexual desire? How does gender preference impact the way work is made? There may be an underlying link between this work, but there is no 'ism' that it all fits into. These artists occupy an odd niche within the art world establishment, accepted and yet outsiders at the same time. The sexuality of an artist matters because this information opens up different and important meanings and understandings of their work. Many artists have made works for and about their lovers. It is as important as knowing that Dora Marr was Picasso's lover, not his maid or cook. She was no mere model, nor were many of the men who sat for the artists shown here. Semi-abstract landscape. Original mixed media or limited edition screen prints on canvas or paper. Also limited edition giclée fine art prints. Canvas prints. Box mounted fine art canvas prints from various projects. Screen printing. Mixed media. Printmaker. Acrylic paint and pastel chalks are used to create textures on the canvas before the screen printed images are applied. Screenprinting is a stenciling method in which the artist's image is transferred to paper by forcing ink through a fine mesh screen in which the background has been blocked. These methods are used to create original screenprint paintings on canvas or small editions on paper.

‘Along these Lines’ Art Exhibition
Curently on display until 1st July '08
Open 10am-5pm, six days a week including Sundays (closed Wednesdays).
WHERE
Galanthus Gallery & Café. Wormbridge. Hereford, HR2 9DH
ABOUT
Lines, written and drawn, run right through this exhibition, in celebration of the Hay Literary Festival. Inspired by American westerns, Lois Hopwood's striking drawings look for high horizons and big skies, her expressive lines causing the eye to swoop through her landscapes. The words that Ken Hurd puts into his pictures are often surprising and evocative, exposing a secret and as yet unexplored landscape; while Kay Williamson is drawn to graphic forms made up of texture and line in her textile pieces. Catherine Ball uses lines of thread stitched into ceramics to reveal the sculptural qualities of her forms. Michelle Freemantle scratches words into her stoneware vessels, often snippets of thoughts inspired by her travels. Plus we are showing exquisite book art by Lucy May Schofield, Heather Weston and Heather Hunter.

WHAT AND WHEN
Custard Factory Flea Market
Sun 1st June 2008 (Continues every Sunday)
11am-4pm
WHERE
Custard Factory, Gibb Street, Birmingham B9 4AA
ABOUT
The Flea just has this intense mixture of artists and people selling their wares and it’s unique. It’s a place where people can sell, buy, converse and just be who they are instead of the mass production ephemera of the high street, we can see merchandise stretching back for decades here. It’s like stepping into your own little Timewarp and to be part of that just for a short time is fantastic and liberating.
